Carnevale Masks

Carne levare in Latin means "take away meat".  Thought that was funny when you think of us now using the word 'carnival' to mean a party with crazy rides and lots of fried foods.  Anyway...can you guess which one of us is behind this mask?
Hopefully not, because that was the point.  Apparently, during Carnavale (which used to last 6 months!!!) people came to Venice to go crazy.  Much like Las Vegas, "what happens in Venice, stays in Venice". We went to this mask making studio that sells all kinds of things and they do all the props for the movies featuring Carnivale.

And then we got to decorate our own masks!

Arriving in Venice

We took a water taxi from the airport.

Bastien was surprised people still dry their laundry this way.

 Welcome to the Hotel Danieli!
