Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

Today on the way home from school, Bastien told me you can do gymnastics in jail.  

Of course, I asked where he heard that.  Did they read a book about jail or something?

He said, "No, I didn't hear it.  I was just thinking about it.  In jail, you can't do anything, just sit on your bed and do nothing.  Except gymnastics.  You can do that in there." 

Well, I guess so.  Does he think that makes jail okay?

Just to be sure he doesn't want to go there, I told him they had really bad food.
